Yea, on the surface this seems ridiculous. I don’t expect compliments for going to work everyday from my wife.
If my wife is wearing a new outfit, or does her hair differently…she expects me to notice. Why wouldn’t she? She wants to feel wanted. She wants to be appreciated. Dressing up or changing her appearance is her way of getting that from me.
Going back to the first statement, what are men appreciated for? Looks? Please. I was rarely complimented on my looks when I was young and good looking. Now that I’m middle aged, forget it. So do you complement the men you love? How? We want to feel wanted, appreciated as well. If we’re supposed quit seeing ourselves as the Patriarchy does, who are we? If we are no longer appreciated as bread winners…then what?
