Where there is balance in a matriarchy, there is instability in a patriarchy.
Where there is fluidity in a matriarchy, there is rigidity in a patriarchy.
And where there is tolerance in a matriarchy, there is partiality in a patriarchy.
Why is matriarchy considered equal but patriarchy is considered oppressive? And what's wrong with using egalitarian to mean an equal society? Why should we associate good things with female words and bad things with male words? It sounds a little dystopian for me. Why can't we use a gender neutral word for an equal society? Anyway, I looked up Heide Goettner-Abendroth and her definition of matriarchy does not seem like its been accepted into mainstream academia.
Regardless, the most important goal is to promote gender equality, individual rights, and social justice, regardless of the specific terminology used to describe a society’s power dynamics. It’s also worth noting that many contemporary societies aim to strike a balance by promoting gender equality and individual rights, regardless of whether they are labeled as matriarchies or patriarchies.
