Who are you writing this to? White people? I agree with the substance of what your saying. The tone the article is harsh enough to cause most uneducated white people to navigate away. These are the people you’re trying to reach, right? I mean, we don’t like to be treated like children either.
This article is fully of generalizations about “Bros” (I guess that’s a white Bernie supporter) and white people in general:
- We never apologize for being wrong.
- We cherry pick our facts to support our own beliefs and ignore the ones that don’t.
These are the statements that you are making to convince an uneducated white person to go back and educate ourselves to we better understand history of blacks in America. Why should we bother? We know from what you’ve said that it’s not going to make us feel bad: We never apologize for being wrong! We also know that we won’t ever change our beliefs: We cherry pick our facts to support our own beliefs and ignore the ones that don’t.
I don’t think any of this is true, btw. I think it’s angry stereotyping, nothing more. Many of us are capable of apologizing when we are wrong and capable recognizing facts that make us question our own beliefs. The best way, in my opinion, to encourage us to become more aware is writing posts that convey the belief that we can change too.
