Thanks for writing. Shaming is shameful. I agree, a lot of modesty norms are toxic, but I have to wonder if they serve a purpose at some level. You do have another article that you posted where you chose to dress modestly in order to evade unwanted attention. I understand that you shouldn't have to do this, but you do it because the world is what it is instead of what we think it should be.

To be fair, there are modesty norms imposed on both cis genders by society. From my observation, men are not expected to wear form fitting clothing or show a lot of skin on the bottom half (at least not in the U.S.). To do so is to violate some secret tenant of masculinity. It's weird, I kind of cringe when I watch a 70's basketball game (short shorts). I'm as susceptible to modesty norms as anyone else, I guess.
