This is not just a feeling. We must be something. Men have no intrinsic value in society. Men are only valued by what they achieve. If a man achieves nothing, he has no value. He gets discarded and forgotten by society. The only people that can give a man value outside of his achievements is his parents. Often parents are incapable of doing so or they pass on. If this is the case many men stand alone.
