"the fact that gender norms leads to higher levels of financial literacy in men"

I'm not sure what you are saying. So you are in favor of traditional gender norms (i.e. the patriarchy) because it teaches males financial literacy? Or are you saying that just paying for dates actually benefits men? On that I disagree. I would say it would be self-serving for women to claim that they only reason they want men to pay for dates is so that men can learn to be financially literate.

Pink tax: This is something that society needs to fix. However, I don't think men paying for dates is the way to do it. I treats symptoms while reinforcing the causes.

I do like where the author is headed though. Maybe finances should be considered when deciding who pays for a date and who does not. Regardless, I think the assumption that men should always pay for dates should be challenged.
