Thank you for writing this. I completely agree that the Fat Monica joke is harmful. Fat shaming is bad. It dehumanizes people. Nobody is perfect and we all have our burdens to bear. Weight control is harder for some than others. For some it's damn near impossible. However, I don't think that necessarily means that we can't love our bodies by taking care of them. Thinking it in terms of one version of a body vs another version may be misguided. It's the same body. Having a plan for eating and exercising to be stronger, healthier and living longer is not a bad thing. Especially when so many of us will suffer with a poor diet and no exercise without said plan (at least I would). So if a friend shares with me a reasonable plan that includes so intentional weight loss and they execute said plan successfully, I'm going tip my hat to them.
