Not really. I feel that modern is similar to trendy. And better is subjective. Using these terms without any context or explanation isn't very useful. Languages should be evaluated objectively. A newer language isn't better just because it's newer. The only context you've given is popularity. Unless you're prepared to give a useful comparison in the features of two languages, maybe you should just stick with popularity.
