Maybe... I think it's a "happy wife, happy life" fallacy issue sometimes. Many men (including myself) have put off their own desires in favor of their partner's. It doesn't work. Men can lose respect from their partners. Most women want kind and generous partners, but not at the cost of their partner's happiness and independence. Men need to find a balance and continue to nurture their own passions and interests independent of the relationship.

On the other hand, men should avoid relationships with women that won't allow them to be happy and independent.
