Just a note about All in the Family. This show was written and produced by Norman Lear. Norman Lear is a progressive (he’s still alive and he’s 97 years old!). His intention was to expose racism by using charactures like Archie Bunker that we could laugh at. In this sense, it was anti-racist. The same production company produced the following notable spinoffs from All in the Family:

2. The Jeffersons
3. 704 Hauser

Each of the shows were pretty progressive for their time.
