Is it? I always thought experimentation was a critical aspect of scientific research. Experimentation involves changing something and observing the outcome, no? Doing exactly the same thing in exactly the same conditions and hoping for different results doesn't like a very effective means of conducting scientific research to me. (thus the "definition" of insanity.)
