I'm in my mid fifties. I stopped coding as a primary responsibility as a lead developer in my late forties and now I'm an architect and I while I code on the side to stay connected to technology, I don't commit any work to our repos at my job.
I miss coding. I miss building things. I worked to be promoted in order to make more money to support my family. I enjoy architecture, but I think, if money was no object, I would prefer coding all day. I think it's silly for companies to think age and experience are a obstacle for developers instead of an asset.
