I'm glad it's hyperbole. I think "men are trash" and "men are pigs"...etc are perfectly normal venting with your girl friends (like in a bar or something) . Maybe even as a meme in a FB post, as long as the context is light hearted and good humored. I think those same expression can mean something completely different in the context of social justice and gender equality. I feel in such a discussion, they are unnecessarily divisive and may ruin an otherwise legitimate message. I'm married, and I completely aware of the infuriating things that men do and/or don't do that can cultivate resentment.
