I think this was the intent with these kind of comedies. I really don’t think it was to normalize male stupidity and inconsideration. It’s an unfortunate side effect. I really think this was to compensate for years of “Father Knows Best” types of shows through the 60’s and 70’s. Leave it to Beaver, Brady Bunch, the Waltons, Little House on the Prairie, Happy Days were all shows where father’s were seemingly perfect. I think some kind of middle ground would be preferable.
