I think the sentiment in this article is right on. I think we in society should continue to remove arbitrary boundaries that keep so much of the population from thriving. However, every permutation of software development language and tools have attempted to democratize application development have failed. I believe this is so for two reasons:

1. Moving target - New techniques make software development becomes more complex as tools try to simplify it.

2. Logic - You can't escape the fact that (code or no code) you have to be able to think logically in order to build applications.
