I like the sentiment of this article. I like the fact that it deemphasizes the importance of the provider role for men. I also believe that dating relationships can continue when you're broke. It is challenging however to start dating someone new, particularly as man, when you're struggling financially. Stretched finances affect every aspect of a person's life, dating is no different. It makes most men question their value as society, generally speaking, puts a heavy weight on career and ambition with regards to how it values men. Facing rejection when life is going your way is difficult enough, it can be devastating when it's not. I feel the advice of this article is well meaning, but a bit naïve.
