I had to look up what life on the dole meant (I'm not British. I'm American). I should mention, I don't have much of opinion about the British Monarchy. Well, except that it seems rather pointless to me. However, America being what it is today, I am not one to judge. I agree that it's easier to forgive your parents than some celebrity with unearned privilege. I agree that public officials are more subject to scrutiny than normal people. I still give a little lee-way to the elderly, regardless of their station in life.
