I feel like this rebuttal to men's suicide statistics is exactly what the author is talking about.

Men are dying from suicide at 3 times the rate that women are. However, you feel that the fact that women attempt suicide at a higher rate is a more urgent issue.

To me, this is an example where you would prefer to view women as victims, even as men are dying from something that women are surviving.
