I don't really have an issue with the piece except for this odd claim that the woman is the table. It doesn't really reflect a partnership to me at all. It seems this puts the woman in the position of only receiving. We are now only concerned with what the man brings to the table (the woman, right?). That's not what you meant? Maybe you could clarify that for me.
I do agree that 'What do you bring to the table" is a stupid question for either person (not just the man). The asker has to discover that for themselves. That's the whole point of dating.
