I don’t disagree with the premise of this article. I am not necessarily against affirmative action, statistics don’t lie. The black and hispanic population of our country is suffering inequity that cannot be ignored. I just don’t like how the dialog or the narrative is evolving or the assumptions being made in the spirit of achieving an equitable society. Not all white people are privileged. Not all minorities are underprivileged. I understand that, because of racial bias, that minorities deal with challenges beyond their social station. I would be willing to bet most the time, a black son of a surgeon will finish college and attain an upper class station in life. A white son of a coal miner will likely grow up to be a coal miner. I’ll be the first to admit that I know how affirmative action works, but if the criteria is race alone…it’s fundamentally flawed.
