I didn't intend to counter the point of the entire article. When I said I would blush if I received a complement, I only meant to convey how I would respond. I don't mean to suggest how the author would respond to such a compliment. I was really just trying to counter the notion that men get sexier as we age. That may be the authors opinion, but society at large does not think that. We may get wealthier and achieve status as we get older. Many women are attracted to wealth and status because of their hypergamous instincts. However, I believe if we (men) do not achieve enough wealth and status relative to our age, then we just get older, not sexier.
As far as being 54 and balding and invisible :), I'm actually OK with it. I'm married and I'm not really seeking attention from women at large. In my daily life I really don't consider how women view me from a sex appeal perspective. However, I do appreciate your encouragement.
