I agree that men shouldn't pay for dates and women shouldn't let them. However, I don't agree with the general characterization of women as sex workers because men pay for dates. I say this, because there is no guarantee of sex at the end of a date. In fact, I would guess it is more likely that there will not be sex or even a second date. Dating to find a partner is simply a numbers game these days.

Instead, men are paying for dates to demonstrate that they can function as a provider role. It is this provider role that has been used historically to justify the gender pay gap and to reinforce a culture of gender inequality.
