He should have been upfront before the date about going Dutch. He's a high school teacher. Paying for the entire date may have cost him most of his disposable income for an entire week. Maybe it is a vetting process for him. It may be more than just gender equality. It may be as practical as he can't afford to date a woman that expects him to pay for everything.
