Great article. I appreciate that you are willing to consider both sides. I, at one time, felt like he did. I heard a black man claim that a black person cannot be racist towards a white person. I've been skeptical, however my understanding has changed and I've adopted this new definition of racism. If I was to try to take something away from this it's this: being hateful and mean is wrong no matter what you call it. As an individual, I should strive to not cause harm, whether it's racism, sexism or just hate.
