Great article. I like how you didn't make any assumptions about Jada's point of view, but you offered your perspective. Who knows? He may have partially acted in accordance to an expectation that she has with regards to him protecting her. Some women like that kind of thing, "Why didn't you do anything? You're just going to sit there and let him insult me like that?". Maybe not violence, though.
Some women would rather not confront a strange man themselves, even with a war of words. My wife wouldn't expect me to defend her. She most certainly wouldn't want me to be violent. She wouldn't want me to defend her from a friend or family member. She would probably appreciate it if I intervened with a male stranger if voices got elevated.
