Friendship is not a win or lose scenario as romance can sometimes seem. Most of the time, it's not as necessary to end a friendship in order to create a new one. Even when it is, it tends to happen organically - you just drift apart. So, until you've been married or in a serious long term relationship, romance can seem flaky, temporary and unreliable.
