Daphne gained a lot of weight in 2 years of marriage. I'm guessing around 100 lbs. If she can lose it, she must have gained it. In that span of time, she went from a healthy weight to obese. You can blame Jeremy for being shallow, but 100 lbs is enough weight to completely change how she looks. When you're married for 20 years it's normal to expect changes in your partner through child bearing and aging...but this is all in the first two years. Jeremy handled it poorly. Given what he said to his friend he was probably doing a bad job of hiding his reaction from her, which probably contributed to the problem. While weight gain is a very sensitive subject, at some point he should have found a way to let her know how it was affecting him. It's hard to have sex with someone that you're not attracted to.

I don't know if I can blame Daphne for cheating. Ideally, people divorce first then find another partner, but what she did was very human. She found someone who accepted her the way she was. However, she probably should have tried to address the issues that were causing her to over eat and she should have communicated that her needs were not being met.

So, inconclusion: They were both at fault. However, life is long and they have time to learn from their failings.
