A lot of white people, like myself, don't identify as German, French or any other specific ethnicity because we're a mix of all of that or we don't know our ancestry. We've been presented forms our whole lives that require we check one of these options for race.

American Indian or Alaska Native

Asian

Black or African American

Hispanic or Latino

Middle Eastern or North African

Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander

White

I never see French, German, English or Irish on there.
