A generalization by definition infers a class of an item by a case. I understand that concept of “white fragility”. I feel like “white fragility” is often used to convince me to be more tolerant of types of speech from blacks that they wouldn’t accept from anyone else. No, they aren’t making generalizations…no, no…you’re it’s just your “white fragility”. When she characterized everyone in my race as being ignorant and incapable of empathy, it’s actually me that being racist for being defensive. I don’t feel defensive, I just feel that generalizations like that do not lead to genuine understanding. They create a dialog in which one person is supposed to listen and not participate. So, I’m not going to participate and I’m not going to listen. And anyone who is like me is doing the same thing. They just aren’t saying anything about it.
