A few years ago I asked my wife the same question. We weren't arguing. She was crying and trying to describe to me why today was (and I quote), "the worst day of my f***ing life". To her credit, her day was no cake walk, but it was far from her worst. I listened and tried to be respectful and sympathetic. After hearing all of it, I told her it sounded like a normally bad day to me, and I felt like she had weathered worse with out much complaint (and gave examples). I then asked her (with all due respect) if she was suffering from PMS. Her response was..."oh...hmmmm". Context and intention mean a lot. I would never suggest such a thing while we were arguing about something. I think agreeing to postpone an argument might be safer.
